The partner of a man who was stabbed in front of his family on Mother's Day has appealed for help in finding his attackers, as police admit their hunt for the suspects has stalled.

Danny Norman was attacked in broad daylight near the centre of Thetford while walking with his fiancée and two daughters on the morning of March 10.

Police are searching for two people in connection with the stabbing, one of whom they have named as Elvis Price, 18.

However, almost six weeks on officers have yet to track the pair down.

Mr Norman, who is in his 30s, was taken to Addenbroke's Hospital in a critical condition, although he is now described as stable.

His partner, who has asked not to be named, said: "This has been very traumatic for me and my family.

"My daughters should never have been exposed to such violence and should not have seen their dad suffer like this.

"How can anyone stab somebody in front of their family in the middle of the day?"

She added: "On behalf of our family, I want to appeal to the public to please help the police in  tracking down these two suspects."

Police have confirmed that those involved in the incident were known to each other.

Sources in the town have said that the stabbing followed a long-running dispute.

As part of the feud, the fiancée herself was attacked by a group of three women at a petrol station near the scene of the stabbing.

Witnesses have described how the women all grabbed and repeatedly slapped the victim, while she was shopping on her own.

Police have faced criticism in the town for not keeping the public informed about the hunt for the suspects.

However, they later named Elvis Price as a suspect and issued a photograph of him, taken close to the scene at around the time of the incident.

They are refusing to identify the second suspect, a younger male, due to his age.

They believe the pair are together and may have links in the Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire areas.

However, despite receiving tip-offs from the public those lines of inquiry have been exhausted.

A Norfolk police spokeswoman said: "We received several calls, pieces of new information, and reported sightings from members of the public in Norfolk and in other parts of the country following our public appeal, and thank everybody who has contacted us to share new information.

"Officers have followed up the potential new leads and reported sightings, but unfortunately, these haven’t taken the investigation forward. The suspect remains outstanding."

The attack happened at 11.50am on Mothering Sunday in Old Bury Road in Thetford.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police and quote the crime reference number: 36/16451/24.
