Mundford WI celebrates 80th birthday

THE Queen has congratulated Mundford WI on its 80th anniversary.

In a letter to the group Her Majesty sent her best wishes for the “most special” birthday. This was read to more than 60 WI members from across Norfolk who gathered at Mundford village centre to mark the start of the anniversary year.

WI President, Sally Rod said: “It was a great honour to be able to read such a letter to Mundford members and our friends. Last year we feared the WI would close, but this month the tears that were shed at that prospect were replaced by smiles as our members heard the Queen’s good wishes.”

The next meeting of the WI is on 9 March when the demonstration and talk is about decorating cup cakes.

The WI meets every second Wednesday of the month in Mundford Village Centre at 7.30pm and new members, of any age, are always welcome.
