Thetford musician Franko Fraize has put on a homecoming gig to remember after packing out a pub with more than 150 fans.

The rapper has enjoyed a rapid rise in the music industry and seen his work backed by figures including Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.

His live performances have also been attracting attention, with appearances at Wembley Arena and Hyde Park now under his belt.

Backed by a live band and vocalist Tony Cornwall, he brought that festival feel home to Thetford on Thursday when he filled a marquee at The Dolphin in Old Market Street.

Running through tracks including Treasures, Peddle Bike, Underdog and latest single, Party, Franko put on a night to remember.

He said he was “buzzing” at the turnout, which included music industry figures keeping tabs on the 28-year-old’s progress.

“We didn’t go mad promoting it but the response has been amazing and we are buzzing that so many people turned out.

“It was a way of saying ‘this is what we’ve been up to’. People hear about us or read it in the paper but they don’t really know what to expect, even if they’ve seen the videos on Youtube.

“So many people came to me afterwards and said they were surprised at how much they enjoyed it. We’ve put a lot of graft in and it’s satisfying.”

Franko said his next step was to try and get an album made - whether it is with the help of a record label or not.

“Some labels are showing an interest but we want to get something sorted,” he said.

“Whatever happens, we’ll crack on and get something done because we want to strike while the iron’s hot.”
