Amy the donkey will be taking a star role in a nativity play being prepared for Sunday. Mary and Joseph, with their donkey, will be travelling through the Ladies' Estate on Croxton Road, to the Church of the Nazarene. Shepherds, angels, and wise men will also be arriving during the evening, and it all takes place in the open spaces around the church, starting at 6pm. Children will be invited to play the part of the flock, with masks provided.
Ruth Barker, wife of Pastor Bobert Barker, feels strongly that when Jesus came it wasn't just to the religious people in religious places, but to anyone who would receive him. The play will realise her ambition to see the events surrounding Jesus' birth portrayed in the same way outside the church building and in the estate.
It is a free event and everyone is invited. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
