One of Norfolk's largest wind bands, the Bridgham and Harling Band, is preparing for its eighth annual Christmas Concert at Bridgham Church on Friday at 7.30pm.
Highlights of the concert, conducted by David O'Neale, include arrangements of traditional Christmas carols alongside the ever-popular White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Troika and Walking in the Air (from The Snowman).
There are also non-seasonal items such as James Bond theme, Goldfinger, Puttin' on the Ritz and a highly dramatic piece, The King across the Water, depicting Bonnie Prince Charlie's attack upon the English at the Battle of Prestonpans. There will also be carols for the audience to sing along with, and mulled wine and seasonal refreshments in the interval.
The band often features in community celebrations such as the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the Nelson bi-centennial, Bridgham's 2007 millennial festivities, and Last Night of the Proms and St George's Day concerts at East Harling. The band made a debut appearance on television, performing during the BBC East's Children in Need charity appeal programme.
Tickets for the concert are £5 adults (children free) and can be obtained at the door or ordered in advance on 01953 718266.
