Scratch player Iain Yule won his first trophy at Thetford Golf Club with a gross score of 61 to take home the Everard Gates Trophy.

This is the club’s Winter Eclectic competition which involves the best score at each hole over six rounds.

Iain picked up his score on the par-fives, with eagles at the 10th and 13th and birdies at the sixth and 17th. He had another five birdies in all. His back nine score of 30 secured the trophy as he beat 10-handicap Martin Jackson on countback. Martin had gross nines of 30 and 36 for the same nett total, 61. Other scores: 61.5 Peter Allott (5), Mark Lingard (11) and Steve Burridge (13); 64.5 Philip Congdon (7); 65 Ged Davey (14) and Andrew Knowles (14); 66.5 David Sutton (13); 67 Tim McAlinden (12) & Jon Congdon (10); 67.5 Roger Smith (9); 68 John Barton (12).

Andrew Beard won the February Medal with a fine round of nett 69 off his handicap of 13. He finished one ahead of seven-handicap Matt Wabe.
