Scratch player Iain Yule teamed up with five-handicap Rob Taylor to win Thetford Golf Club’s Winter League trophy.

The foursomes competition involves six rounds, with the four best scores counting, and Yule and Taylor compiled an excellent 144 points — an average of 36 per round. Second place went to Steve Burridge and Michael Smith with 137, followed by three pairings on 135 Norrie Dickson and Brian Youngs, James Camelleri and Dean Scott and Paul Hensby and Nick Murgolo.

Dickson and Youngs took third place on countback thanks to winning the final round of the competition on Sunday.

They came in with 35 points to pip Camilleri and Scott by one point. Matthew Harben and Robbie O’Brien were third with 33.

Ladies’ captain Gill Welham was delighted with the response to the annual coffee morning on Tuesday. A total of £661 was raised for the ladies’ section.
