Birmingham's Cofton Park was the setting for excellent performances from Thetford AC junior athletes chosen to represent Norfolk in the annual inter-counties races.

In the U13 girls' race over a 3km course Grace Humby finished 267th in 13 minutes 33 seconds.

Megan Norry, running in the U15 girls' race over 4km, crossed the line in 225th place with a time of 18:11.

Jason Higgins, competing in the U15 boys' event, completed the 4.5km course in 16:56 to finish 200th.

Running in the U17 ladies' race, Lucy Tyler was placed 190th with a time of 22:46 over the 5km distance.

In the U17 men's race over 6km, Jonny Mead crossed the line in 203rd place in 21:46 minutes with Joseph Kirton finishing in 23:05 in 245th position.

The tough undulating course and windy conditions combined to make the races very challenging and all the Thetford athletes acquitted themselves well, putting in a huge effort and racing against huge fields in each race.

In addition, Joseph Nicholson (U11 boy) competed at an indoor competition at Chelmsford and won a bronze medal in the combined events, an excellent achievement.

As the last races of the season take place and the entry forms for the Norfolk Track and Field Championships are available, the club is looking forward to the coming track and field season.
