Wattton 2 Brandon Town 1

WATTON took the derby spoils with only their third Anglian Combination win of the season.

Brandon, looking to build on the previous week’s win at Corton, were forced into making two changes with Sheppard coming in for the injured Turner and Winstone replacing the absent Nocton.

On an excellent surface, Watton were dangerous at set plays while Brandon looked dangerous through the pace of Bethell and Green.

Brandon started to get on top after 30 minutes with Green and Bland both having decent chances, Sheppard hitting the bar and Bethell hitting the post after a fine solo run.

Brandon got the goal they deserved when an excellent passing move saw Green feed Sheppard, whose excellent first time shot gave the keeper no chance.

Watton equalised almost from the kick off in the second half when a long ball over the top caught out the Brandon back line. Barlow saved brilliantly but the rebound found was tucked away by the excellent Walker.

Two minutes later Brandon got in a muddle at the back, Bethell blocked a shot on the line with his hand and Huckle scored the resulting penalty.

Town huffed and puffed for an equaliser without creating too many chances as Watton sat back and soaked up the pressure.

This weekend Brandon are at home to Sprowston while Watton travel to Poringland.

Brandon Reserves’ excellent run came to an end with an 8-2 defeat to Easton Res. Horrex grabbing both the goals. On Saturday they travel to Hingham
