THETFORD Town hope the form they showed in winning their FA Vase replay on Tuesday will continue when they return to Ridgeons Division One action on Saturday, hosting Godmanchester Rovers.

The FA Vase first tie against Rothwell Corinthians ended in a 2-2 draw last weekend which required a Tuesday night replay which Thetford won with ease 5-0 with braces from Matt Dixon and Danny Tanti plus an own goal.

Thetford boss Mark Scott was delighted with the result, saying it was “very, very pleasing. It was a very good performance, a team performance and even more pleasing result.

“We have been putting in the performances but not getting the goals, we just needed it to gel and get goals – and they did that.”

He was particularly pleased that despite being several goals up, Thetford kept pushing to add to their tally and ended up with a nap hand.

“We hope to take this form into the league,” he added. “We desperately need to pick up points. With this squad of players, they are good enough to compete and do well in this division.”
