A recent winner of the ‘Athlete of the Championship’ award at the Nationwide Eastern Region Disability Athletics Championship, is hoping to find a local club where he can build up his natural talent with specialist training.
Thetford’s Luke Wing, who is on a Life Skills course at West Suffolk College, won two gold medals (long jump and high jump), one silver (60m Senior) and one bronze (100m) at the championships in Chelmsford.
His performances earned him the ‘Athlete of the Championship’ award for the second time – making him the first athlete to be so honoured. The award is made as a result of judges’ nominations and they were particularly impressed by his jumping technique and style.
In the past, Luke has qualified for the national finals in the long jump and high jump.
The first Harling 10k run takes place on Sunday, July 15, starting from East Harling Recreation ground NR16 2NA, with a start time of 10.30am. Application forms are now available to download from www.ehssc.org.uk and any enquires please contact Philip Blades, race director 01953 718269.
