TIGHTER marking and some fine passing gave hosts Thetford Ladies the edge - but it wasn't enough to keep the faster Loddon hockey side at bay.

Thetford ladies are starting to find some fluidity and form. The M&A Partners Premier Division teams are fit and

fast, testing the ladies' mental and physical fitness.

Thetford opened the scoring with Tracey Newman receiving a powerful shot from Dawn Heavey from a short corner.

Charlie Harwood and Ziggi Clark were exceptional on the left, working very quickly to move the ball up the pitch.

Karen Hodgkinson made some long runs up the right, but she was then thwarted in the D.

It was Davina Rolph who shone brightest though, blocking numerous shots on goal and kicking them out of play.

The long balls Thetford played were often intercepted - and Loddon grabbed every opportunity, using three players to get into the D.

Sophie Kelly and Paula Scott were so solid at the back, making some good clearances and cutting out key players.

Midfield players started to tire, leaving acres of space for Loddon to come through to score three times.

After half-time, a more structured Thetford ventured out. The second half was much better - but an unchallenged Loddon player made it 4-1 with an exceptional shot from the top of the D.

Thetford weren't about to leave it there and Kathy Hammond grabbed the team's second goal.
