CYCLING: At the VTTA 25-mile time trial, national champion Michael Hutchinson beat his closest competitor by a massive three minutes and four seconds.

Windy conditions made it hard going for the early starters, with the weather only improving for the two-up riders who were last off. Hutchinson, In Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT, won in 51:21 ahead of Russel Hampton, Sigma Sport Specialized CT, 54:25 and Richard O’Rourke, East Seventeen Cycles, 57:04. Nigel Stevens and Trevor Burke of Finchley RT won the two-up event in 55.39, a large margin of three minutes and five seconds ahead of second. The local pairing of Nino Picolli, Team Pedal Revolution, and Cycling Club Breckland Junior, Adam Cross came fourth in 1-00:40. CC Breckland Juvenile Declan Davis posted a time of 23:31 in the Birdwell Wheelers 10 which was won by Julian Ramsbottom in 20:30 on Sunday. And CC Breckland’s Martin Badham completed the Circuit of the Dales in 3-34:43, which was won by Andy Wilkinson in 2-05:00.

n The Breckland Club time trial season begins on the April 6, with a five mile time trial at Scoulton.
