Just two seconds separated the two fastest with Peter Balls (West Suffolk Wheelers) beating Lee Bark (Stowmarket) in 57:39.
Eight Breckland riders competed with Bobby De'ath 1-1:27, Chris Nudds 1-2:06 and Geoff Miller 1-3:58 collecting the fastest team award with 3-7:31 while Nudds was third fastest veteran on standard with a plus of 13:57. Other Breckland times were Alan Stevenson 1-4:34, Nick Parravani 1-8:41, Tony Reynolds 1-10:23, Myles Lubbock 1-11-20 and Keith Grasby 1-13:14.
Jenny Anderson (VC Barrachi) was fastest woman in 1-15:1-0 while Olive Forsbrook, 77, turned in a super 1-41:56.
First of the 2008 season of club events kicked off on Wednesday, April 9 with a five-mile event centred at Scoulton with a good turnout of 17 riders.
Geoff Hunter recorded 12:37, Bobby De'ath 12:38, Rob Richardson 13:29, Myles Lubbock 14:05, Bob Day 14:48 and Paul Cross 15:29. Paul's son Adam was fastest of the juniors in 13:31 beating Thomas Doe 14:05 and Emily Davis 17:27.

Tandem pair Paul Hewitt and P Barnaby failed to finish while Don Saunders and Declan Daris had chain problems - 18:57. Second-claim P Hanson (Verulam) recorded 16:08 while J Briggs and Son (De Laune) took 17:00.
