Victory at Mildenhall has continued a major upturn in form for Thetford Town.
The Brecklanders hit back from 1-0 down to claim the local bragging rights with a 2-1 win.
The three points saw Thetford leapfrog Mildenhall into 14th place in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division table and extended their unbeaten run to three games.
That run was sparked by a 1-0 win against Norwich City Under-21s in the fourth round of the Norfolk Senior Cup a fortnight ago, thanks to a second-half goal from substitute Ian Fancett.
A 2-2 draw with high-flying Felixstowe & Walton United saw Mark Scott’s side build on that cup success with a creditable point in the league and success at Mildenhall has kept momentum building.
Mildenhall started strongly but Thetford put some good passes together and great play from Sam Bryant allowed James Dean to force a good save from the Mildenhall keeper.
A lack of concentration allowed Mildenhall to score just before half-time, David Cooper making it 1-0.
The visitors started the second half well though and a great through-ball from Ryan Pearson found Fancett, who levelled the score.
Ten minutes later a cross from Shane Leech found Pearson on the edge of the area, who turned and volleyed into the top corner for a 2-1 lead. A goal-line clearance from Alex McIntosh on 90 minutes then made sure of the point.
This Saturday Thetford host lowly FC Clacton at Mundford Road.
