THETFORD Men entertained top of the league side Cranes and won 10-3.

Thetford performed to the best of their ability with each man putting in top effort on the hockey pitch.

Town started the proceedings when a short corner strike from McMurtary saw the keeper parry the ball towards Godbold only for him to flick home.

Gary Scott doubled the scoreline when a well timed pass saw him convert past the stranded keeper. Thetford were dominating possession but a breakaway move from Cranes and a dubious flick which caught Harper in the face was deemed as obstruction and a stroke awarded and converted.

Thetford did not let this faze them and continued with some positive hockey from Hooton down the right flank. This tireless work from Hooton led to the third when he found Godbold in the D who picked out an unmarked Snow who smashed into the far left corner.

Town were caught off guard towards the end of the first half when a few defensive mistakes did not go unpunished from Cranes forward.

Thetford went into the break 4-2 up when a saved Scott effort saw Godbold on hand to squeeze into the corner.

Thetford came out in the second half and looked a bit shaky and were punished by some quick hockey from Cranes. Some regrouping was needed and MoM Junior was instrumental in keeping things tight at the back.

Town now upped a few gears and Scott netted his second when Hooton skipped past the left back only to square to Scott. Snow appeared on the scoresheet once more with a nonchalant short corner dolly past the stranded keeper.

Godbold managed to find a Crane defender asleep deep in his own half, dispossessed him and ran the length of the field and squared to Scott to complete his hat-trick with a delicate deflection.

McMurtary was on form all day long with his short corners and a rocket of a shot saw an excellent save from the keeper only for Blower to be lurking far post.

Junior also got himself on the scoresheet when the keeper gifted him the ball after he saved the first effort and made no mistake the second time.

The game was completed when Godbold's effort was cleared off the line only for sneaky Harper to crash home. An excellent team performance all round.
