The second round of the Suffolk Winter Cross-Country League took place in the village of Sutton, near Woodbridge, with Thetford athletes making a good showing in several categories.

There was a trio of runners-up positions for Thetford AC athletes with Lucy Tyler finishing second in the Senior Female category with a time of 31:16mins, Sandra Bower finishing in the same spot in the V50 category in 36:47 whilst Aiden Try was also a runner-up in the Under-15s race, in 11:43.

Karl Wright crossed the line in a time of 33:23 for 36th position in the Senior Men’s race. Tina Plumley finished high up the rankings with a fifth-place finish in the V40 category with a time of 35:50. Brian Wright’s time of 36:50 was good enough for eighth place in the V60 contest.

In the V50 age category, Tony Tyler came home in 26th place with a time of 37:59. Paul White’s time of 42:25 was good enough for 32nd position in the V40 event. Along with Aiden Try, there were two other junior athletes competing for Thetford. Ben Garrod finished seventh in the U13 race with a time of 14:01 whilst there was an 11th-place finish for James Peck in the same race, in 15:46.

After two meetings in the Suffolk League, Thetford’s junior boys lie in third position in the team points table whilst the Senior Women currently lie fourth in their table.
