Thetford Town must be patient as survival picture becomes clearer

Heavy rain held up Thetford Town’s push for survival in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, which resumes with a trip to Essex on Saturday.
Danny White’s team were due to travel to Essex last Saturday but a waterlogged pitch at FC Clacton saw the game called off. That game will now be played next Tuesday, with Clacton comfortable in mid-table.
Thetford’s need for points is more urgent however, with all their nearest relegation rivals due to be in action tonight.
Swaffham are second bottom and five points behind the Brecklanders ahead of their trip to Ipswich Wanderers, who are just a point and a place above Thetford after a 2-2 draw at Walsham le Willows on Monday.
Fakenham are third from bottom and four points adrift of Thetford before they entertain sixth-placed Mildenhall at Clipbush Park.

That busy night of action can’t drag Town into the relegation zone, with Walsham le Willows also in action again. Walsham are two points better off than Thetford but host runaway leaders Norwich United, who know they will retain the title with victory.
White’s team cannot affect the relegation battle until they return to action on Saturday at 10th-placed Saffron Walden Town, who lost 2-0 at home to Kirkley & Pakefield last night.

Walden won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Mundford Road in early February, thanks to a Graeme Turner strike.
Swaffham play Ipswich Wanderers again on Saturday, at home this time, in another crunch clash in the survival battle, while Fakenham host Haverhill Rovers and Walsham go to Brantham Athletic.
With another packed midweek schedule to follow next week, the relegation picture will soon look a lot clearer.
