Thetford Town made a flying start to their Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign on Saturday afternoon when they came away from Stanway Rovers with all three points.
Danny White’s side recovered from the shock of conceding first to record an impressive 3-1 win, with Max Melanson scoring a couple of goals.
Jamie Guy fired Stanway ahead from the penalty spot in the first half but Melanson struck five minutes before the break to ensure Thetford went in at half-time on level terms.
Sam Bond then put the visitors ahead with 12 minutes remaining and Melanson added a third five minutes late to ensure his side would be coming home with all three points.
Thetford are in FA Cup action on Saturday when they travel to face Eynesbury Rovers in an extra preliminary round tie (3pm).
They play their first home game of the season next Tuesday evening, with Walsham le Willows the visitors for a league clash at Mundford Road (7.45pm).
