Thetford Town picked up a useful point on the road when they drew 1-1 at Newmarket Town - but it could easily have been all three.

The visitors were leading 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to go but the Jockeys hit back when player manager Michael Shinn headed home.

Town had taken the lead when Valter Rocha hit the bar from 20 yards and Sam Bond followed up to score.

“It was a good point,” manager Danny White tweeted afterwards. “I felt we dominated the game for long periods and just couldn’t get second goal. To be disappointed with an away point against a side in form shows we are moving in right direction.”

Town welcome Ely City to Mundford Road on Saturday for another Thurlow Nunn Premier Division fixture and then travel to the FDC in Bowthorpe, Norwich on Tuesday evening to take on Mattishall in the semi-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup (7.45pm).

Bridgham United entertained in-form side Redgrave Rangers and suffered a 3-2 defeat.

Redgrave took the lead in the 41st minute when some poor defending let them in and scored again six minutes after the restart.

Bridgham pulled one back in the 60th minute when, from a Connor McCartney cross, leading scorer Tom Wood scored for 2-1.

Redgrave made it 3-1 after more poor defending but Bridgham continued to battle on and made it 3-2 in the 78th minute when Steve Wycherley fired home.
