Thetford Town stayed on course for a top half finish in Division One of the Norfolk Alliance when they saw off visitors Vauxhall Mallards A by 43 runs at the weekend.

Town visit relegated Mattishall in their final game on Saturday (12.30pm) knowing a win - or a defeat for Bradfield at home to Norwich A - would see them mark a solid campaign by sealing fifth position.

Thetford were dismissed for 231 in the final over at Mundford Road, with Liam Conroy making 62 and Greg Mann 53.

Lewis Greyson then returned the impressive figures of 4-19 as Mallards were bowled out of 188 with five overs remaining.

in Division Six Thetford A were beaten by 48 runs at Topcroft A. They finished on 193-8 when chasing a tough total of 241-5. Town’s seconds round off their season at home on Saturday when they take on a Horsford B side who need a win to seal the title, having already gained promotion.

Swaffham came through a tense encounter against Great Witchingham A to claim the win in Division Two.

They started well against the Witches to reach 145-3, with Jasper Payne, Alex Payne, Tom Puckey and Alex Reardon all making scores in the 30s, but then collpased to 171 all out as Dennis Rogers took 5-9 in seven overs.

Great Witchingham got close to their target after being 100-9 but ended up being dismissed seven runs short, with No 10 James Cherry stranded on 46. David Annakin was the most successful bowler, taking 3-16.

An up and down campaign for Swaffham draws to a close on Saturday with a trip to Saham Toney.

Downham Town recorded an emphatic derby win to seal the Premier Division title.

A trip to an in-form North Runcton side looked like a potential banana skin for the leaders, even though they only needed a handful of points from the fixture to ensure finishing top.

But they became champions in style as they romped home by 124 runs, making a solid 211-7 before bowling their hosts out for just 87.

Skipper Pat Yates top scored with 59 for Downham, before Joss Stuart weighed in with four wickets. In Division One Swardeston A all but secured promotion when they cruised past relegated Mattishall.

The hosts won by nine wickets after skittling out the visitors for just 63.
