THETFORD are away to high-flying Halstead this Saturday after having just lost out to Brantham Athletic 2-1 in their previous Ridgeons League Division One game.

But manager Mick Money is undaunted, telling the Times: “On our day we are capable of beating anybody. There's no-one we fear in the league - it's just we're inconsistent. We are not as bad as our league position suggests.

“Despite Brantham being fourth or fifth we could have won the game. If we can get a run of results it will help

the confidence.”

Thetford had the first effort of the match against Brantham with a long-range effort from Haynes saved by the keeper.

But it was Brantham who applied the pressure and Bilham saved well on 12 minutes.

But a minute later, Brantham took the lead when Mann stole in at the far post to score.

Town were finding it difficult to get any control of the game, but had a good effort on 27 minutes when Bryant found Skipp, whose effort was just wide.

Bilham than saved well on 35 minutes, but Town started to apply their own pressure in the closing minutes of the half.

Town's ability to concede in the opening minutes of a second half emerged again when Brantham increased their lead on 50 minutes when a looping cross by Mann deceived everyone and ended in the net.

Town replied and should have pulled a goal back when the keeper could not hold a Haynes' effort, but Haynes followed up, only to see his effort cleared off the line.

The game went from end to end with chances for both teams, but Town had the better of the closing minutes and pulled a goal back on 87 minutes when a Skipp free-kick found Mann, who made no mistake.

Town battled for the equaliser and Senior went close on two occasions, but Brantham held on for the three points.
