ONCE Thetford Ladies started scoring, there was no stopping them against Pelicans - and the 15 goals took them to the 100 mark this season.

Excellent hockey, great possession and passing and some fantastic interceptions gave the home side the edge in this penultimate league match.

Karen Hodgkinson, Emma Nicholson and Dawn Heavey worked particularly hard to make sure of this spectacular win.

Thetford scared themselves a few times when Pelicans Ladies got through the defence to take a shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Rosemary Ladner made a flying leap to save one on target, but Nicholson made an incredible save scooping the ball off the line to clear it.

Heavey was the first to score from a short corner for Thetford, followed rapidly by two goals on the trot from Tracey Newman and two from Kathy Hammond.

Pelicans' defence were put under a huge battering in the second half. Hodgkinson slapped in a hat-trick with a similar move - running in from the circle and smacking it in.

Hammond's fourth came from good passing in the circle from Sarah Fitchett and Davina Rolph.

Angela Sharpe was in a perfect place to make it 15-0 from a fast pass into the D.

Yet again, this was a fabulous team effort and lovely to watch.

Goalscorers: Dawn Heavey (5), Tracey Newman (2), Kathy Hammond (4), Karen Hodgkinson (3) and Angela Sharpe.
