Thetford Ladies 2 Harleston Magpies V 2: Hodgkinson rescues draw for Thetford

A no score half-time finished with a flourish with these well matched teams both getting a few good goals.

Sharon Brimson, Mel Jeanes, Sophie Wheeler and the fearless Bethany Rolfe worked hard in defence throughout, spoiling the opposition’s chances of success with every interception and cleared ball.

Hannah Spidy and Abbie Cozens showed how much stronger and edgier they were, putting in a stellar performance.

It was the second half where Magpies found a hole in the short corner defence to pull ahead. But Thetford answered with a short corner routine of their own, which pinballed from Hodgkinson to Sarah Nichols to Scott who sent it home.

Another interception from the away team found an unmarked player who scored to make it 1-2. But Hodgkinson made one of her runs and clinched a goal from an almost impossible angle right along the baseline. Player of the Match: Karen Hodgkinson.
