EXPERIENCE and incredible commitment saw Thetford Ladies triumph 3-0 over the slicker team in this fantastic home win against league leaders Dereham Colts.

Very tight marking in midfield and some fine defensive work from PoM Chris Church, Sophie Kelly, Tracey Newman and keeper Rosemary Ladner kept this fast-passing team in check.

Charlie Harwood's excellent blocks and work with Karen Hodgkinson made for some key breakaway runs.

The first goal came from a cross in from Hodgkinson, who found Kathy Hammond, with Ziggi Clark finishing.

The second goal came from another hard-won battle and a short corner awarded.

Hodgkinson picked up a rebound and hammered the ball home. Colts kept coming, and Karen Spiller and Sarah Nichol made fine decisions to block play and win time. Davina Rolph gave her all to get into space and look dangerous.

In the second half, Nichol took advantage of a rebounded shot to flick the ball up into goal.

But the pressure was mounting on defence, resulting in a ball going hard into Kelly, leaving her unable to play with 25 minutes to go. Harwood dropped back and played well against the opposition's centre.

Church's marshalling and encouragement was spot-on in keeping defence tight.

Church supported players and made great runs away to give an attacking edge that ended in a short corner being awarded. Here, Clark's powerful shot on goal rebounded off a post.
