Thetford broke their losing streak in East League Men’s Division 4NE with a convincing 5-1 win over Pelicans III at Breckland Sports Centre.
William Rolfe and Joe Clarke dominated the midfield, linking well with Reece Laffar and Darren Matthews, as they hosts went one up after 10 minutes.
Dan Gidney and Josh Harpur provided options on the wings and two more goals had been added by Harpur and Rolfe by half-time. Pelicans managed to score through Josh Ampomah to keep them in the game.
The second half saw a similar high energy input from Thetford who were aided by the return of Ron Laffar and Alastair Smith. Smith in particular had an impressive season debut in central defence launching attacks from the back together with Josh Laffar.
Thetford made the game safe with further goals from Matthews and Reece Laffar to seal a win that raised morale ahead of the break.
