A new golfing year got into full swing at Thetford Golf Club with the four captains of 2016 driving into office.
The quartet came through this annual test of golfing ability – and nerve – with flying colours as all four tee shots all found the fairway.
Insider knowledge may have helped David Fossey to win one of the prizes for predicting where the drives would finish. He was spot on when it came on to the Ladies’ Captain’s drive which was struck by his wife, Janice.
David was delighted to contribute his cash win to the Ladies’ Captain’s charity.
This year’s club captain is Alan Brown, while Les Dewey is the seniors’ captain and Abigail O’Riordan is the junior captain.
There was a good crowd of onlookers to witness the drive-ins and to wish the new captains well for their year of office.
The first competition of the new year is always the Captain’s Mashie, which involves 13 holes on New Year’s Day using just one club and a putter.
