Grit and determination are what saw Thetford men's hockey team end this season on a high, beating the team who they had lost to earlier in the season, Dereham IV.

Dereham's young and fit midfield had the duo of Snow and Harper working hard but good deliveries down the right hand side with Pandy making some influential runs had the home team's defence tested.

A dubious short corner awarded to Dereham saw Tim leak make some excellent reaction saves but he could not keep the fourth attempt out. This goal put the wind up Thetford's tail and a succession of strong passes lead to a foul in the D and a short corner to Thetford. McMurtary stepped and riffled one to the back post for Blower to slap home. Thetford built upon this lead and a quick free hit found Snowy in the D who unleashed his trademark reverse stick hit which again found Blower unmarked on the far post for his second of the match.

Thetford started to blow a lot in the second half but excellent defending from McMurtary saw each attack quickly diverted with Lloyd winning every 50:50 ball. Snow was fouled deep in Dereham's half, a quick one two with Pandy gave him enough time to fire his shot in to the far corner leaving the keeper stranded.

Thetford finished this game on superb fashion with a short corner routine which they have been working on so hard in training all season. Quick passing round the edge lead to Snowy having an age of time to calmly slot the ball home for a 4-1 victory.
