Thetford played their usual expansive game and were rewarded as Rob Duchesne took a quick penalty in his own 22 and ran all the way to the try line.

L&Y, with were playing a forward orientated game, hit back when their big No 8 barged his way over and went ahead after putting the ball through the hands on the short side from a scrum five metres out.

After some time in their own half Thetford were awarded a scrum inside L&Y territory and with a step and a hand off Will Martin got through the defence and got his side back into the lead. The centre partnership of Martin and Clark were now punching holes in the defence and Martin almost scored again, only to be pulled down just short. The ball was quickly recycled and spread wide for Ryan Gardiner to score to make it 19-10 to Thetford at the break.

They opted for a scrummage and although a valiant drive from new second row Mark Laws drove them back the rampaging No 8 broke off and carried three defenders over to score.
