Thetford Town are closing in on the title in Division Three of the Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Alliance, after winning their eighth match of the season.
The league leaders continued their charge towards the title with a winning draw at struggling Narborough, with Alex Dennis top scoring with an unbeaten 64.
Thetford A slipped to a losing draw in Division Six, at home against Bradenham A.
The visitors won the toss the visitors elected to bat and were soon in trouble with the loss of two wickets for two runs. A stand of 92 between Robbie Clarke (89) and Lewis Bates (24) helped to restore order.
Rob Ellis, in at six, scored freely to end on 41 not out in a total of 227-6 for Bradenham.
Thetford’s reply began in belligerent fashion and they were ahead of the rate when skipper Mike Cusack was caught by Clarke off the bowling of Bates for just eight with the score on 26.
Twenty runs later Peter Terry holed out to Greg Caffyn from the bowling of Ellis (2 for 33) and Caffyn then took another one from the bowling of Clarke (2 for 36).
Gavin Siriwardena was Thetford’s best performer with a knock of 34, with Keith Greyson scoring 24, but Thetford could only reach 161-7 in their 46 overs, to take seven league points.
This Saturday Thetford host bottom-of-the-table Dersingham, who have won just one match all season, and the A team travel to Cromer A.
• Mundford slipped to a six-wicket defeat at Rocklands in Division Four of the Dipple & Conway Norfolk Alliance, despite a half century from Robin Yates.
Mundford reached 187-7 in their 46 overs, with Yates run out for 55 and Mark Leeder going for 28. An unbeaten 64 from Steven Hall then led Rocklands to 190-4 and a comfortable victory, with Jay Yates taking two wickets for the visitors.
