Thetford CC's first XI returned to the form that had deserted them for the last two weeks, as they secured a comfortable victory over bottom side Kirkley and Lowestoft Railway.

Thetford, the visitors, won the toss and elected to field on a wet and blustery day.

It only took until the 10th over for Thetford to make the breakthrough, Lewis Greyson, taking the wickets of Snell and Hunter within three balls of each other.

Jack Lingard was tying up the other end with figures of 0-30 off eight overs. Greyson, in terrific form, took another scalp in his next over.

C Guy (35) and B Wilgoss (69 not out), steadied the ship for the home side. However spinners Liam Conroy (1-29) and M Terry (2-51) continued to tease the lower middle order, allowing Greyson and Peters to clear the tail end at the death.

Greyson (5-37) had a brilliant spell of bowling, keeping the home team to 173 all out in the final over.

The Thetford innings didn't start too well, with Liam Conroy edging to second slip in the fourth over.

Mick Piggott was trapped lbw by S Walpole. This did not deter Alex Dennis, who scored a brilliant 56, hit to all parts of the ground, to put Thetford back on course.

He was ably supported by Peter Terry (20), and Ryan Conroy, with a superbly patient 45 not out. With the bonus of a 14 not out from Andy Kerling, Thetford were home and dry for a six-wicket win, with six overs to go.

Meanwhile, Thetford Sunday travelled to Sandringham in a game that was 'must win' if they wanted to compete in this league and they gained a brilliant victory.

Thetford put Sandringham into bat. In L Greyson's first over he picked up a wicket and continued to frustrate the batsmen and picked up another wicket (2-18).

Coleman picked up two wickets (2-20) with the help of some brilliant work behind the stumps from R Conroy.

Allison (1-18) and Conroy

(0-35) came into the attack and continued to keep it tight and Allison picked up the wicket of Mitchell.

The captain then brought Terry into the attack for the two spinners to bowl in tandem, which caused the batsmen all sorts of problems, as Terry took four wickets

(4-23). It was a very impressive fielding and bowling display by Thetford as Sandringham were bowled out for 117.

Thetford struggled to judge a wicket that showed very variable bounce and lost an early wicket. But R Conroy smashed a classy 35 from 32 balls. L Conroy came to the crease and brought the team to the needed score with help from S Richards.

After a quick fall of wickets. Thetford eventually won the game by five wickets with L Conroy 34 not out and S Richards 9 not out.
