Thetford turned in a valiant display against East League Division 4NE leaders North Norfolk at Cromer before losing 3-2.
They went one down early on and were then grateful for a series of fine saves from keeper Kieran Allen, including one from a penalty stroke.
The league leaders rallied again and scored a fine individual goal when their captain planted his shot in the top right corner.
After this it was Thetford’s turn to press hard and they were rewarded with a short corner which Keith Squires fired into the bottom corner. The visitors continued to press and a goalmouth scramble was won by Dave Hurren and Darren Matthews to level the score at half-time.
Thetford had their tails up but couldn’t find a third goal and the hosts forced a late short corner from which they went ahead agan. Thetford continued to battle and in the final seconds Andrew Smith made a great run before being fouled, with the resultant penalty corner being cleared off the line.
