Thetford athletics prospect Joseph Nicholson has day to remember

THETFORD ACADEMY athletics prospect Joseph Nicholson competed in three disciplines at the recent Keith Ward County Open athletics competition in King’s Lynn – and excelled in all of them.

The 11-year-old, who has been training and competing with Thetford AC for four years, was second in the Under-13 shot putt and long jump and recorded a personal best time in the 60m sprint. There was only 1cm difference between his longest jump and that of the winner.

Joseph has been competing in the indoor sportshall league throughout the winter for Thetford and was selected to compete for Norfolk at the UEA Sportspark in a regional championships against Suffolk, Cambs, Herts, Bedfordshire and Essex.

The Keith Ward County Open saw athletes from all over the county competing independently.
