Jessica Norkett and Aiden Try ended their cross-country season by representing their school at the highest level domestically when selected to compete for the Norfolk Schools team at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

An event which has, for the past two years, been held in Nottingham and Blackburn, it came as a welcome change that Norfolk was this year’s host county, with the event being staged at the Norfolk Showground.

Jessica Norkett was the second Norfolk girl to cross the line in the Junior Girls category, finishing 64th out of a total of 344 athletes, completing the 3.25km course in a time of 11.48. This age category was won by Sian Heslop of Macclesfield in a time of 10.53.

Aiden Try finished 248th in the Intermediate Boys race in a time of 20.58.

This race was won by Zakariya Mahamed from Southampton in a time of 18.16.
