THETFORD Sports and Social Club has this year entered Division Four Central of the Norfolk and Suffolk Veterans' League.

The Veterans' League is for players over the age of 35 years of age and games are usually played Sunday afternoons every two weeks, giving time for the aches and pains to heal and also it's easy for players to fit in their social commitments.

The emphasis is on the social side of playing football with the league rules stipulating that teams must provide food after the game.

The Veterans' League has 12 divisions but the lower divisions are regionalised to minimise on travel, there are also cup and shield competitions and finally an Over 40's Cup, giving chance to players who wouldn't normally get a game a chance to play.

The team based is at Thetford Sports and Social Club and plays its home games at the Breckland Leisure Centre.

The team is sponsored by Combat Paintball Ltd who provided the first team kit.

This week saw Thetford travel to Watton to face the first team in the first round of the cup and were knocked out 2-1 but are now entered into the league's shield competition.

Thetford's next league fixture is at home to Elmswell Veterans on October 25.
