THETFORD Town, after managing only a draw against spirited basement side Fakenham, will be hoping for all three points on Saturday when they host Team Bury, two places higher up Ridgeons Division One.

Thetford Town 1, Fakenham Town 1

THETFORD entertained the Ghosts, whose recent form has shown that they were not going to be a pushover.

Both teams started well with Bruno having a chance just over early on. Fakenham had a good chance to take the lead but the shot was blocked by Terry. A good run by Haynes on 15 minutes ended with a pass to Dixon, whose effort was wide.

The game began to become a midfield battle with no real efforts on goal. Town had a chance on 30 minutes which was cleared for a corner.

Town started the second half with a Bruno effort over the bar, but the game became similar to the first half. Fakenham nearly took the lead when a shot was deflected by Thompson towards his own goal which brought a good save from Terry.

Fakenham took the lead on 60 minutes when, from a corner, a player was left unmarked to head home.

Town brought on Jones and his shot went in off the inside of a post.

But it was Fakenham who had one last chance to take the points before full-time.

Thetford Reserves lost 5-1 at Yarmouth (Volta Rocha). They next visit Leiston, 3pm.
