There were smiles all round on Wednesday when no fewer than six riders in the Cycling Club Breckland 10-mile club event at North Tuddenham recorded personal best times.

On what was obviously a perfect evening all six improved by two minutes or more - in Martin Badham's case by an astonishing five minutes 23 seconds on his tricycle.

Youngster Adam Cross finished exactly two minutes faster than the previous week, recording 25:36, while Emily Davis' 32:06 was a two minute 13 second improvement.

“That is for Grandad Bert” she declared in honour of her great grandfather Albert Saunders, who died recently.

Equally delighted with their times were Mark Fairhead 28:25 (31.22), Alan Holland 28:57 (31.58) and Paul Cross 29:01 (31:48).

Actual fastest on the night was Chris Nudds in 23:39 with Geoff Muller next 23:43 and Paul Hoggett moving up into third place with his 28:08 ride.

In a 'come and try it' ride, Lloyd Thompson finished in a creditable 30:01 while tandem pair P Hewitt and P Barbary rode just one lap of the 10-lap course to record 19:35.

Other times recorded: P Lynch (East Anglian CC) 25:16, G Baker (VC Norwich) 25:14, R Graham (Norwich ABC) 25:25 and R Beath (Tri-Anglia) 28:28.
