THETFORD'S men's tennis team made it three wins in their first four matches of the season when they visited Wickhambrook in the Norfolk and Suffolk League.

The six sets to two success also meant that Thetford recorded a home and away league double over their Suffolk opponents.

Colin Chamberlain and Darrol Satchell cruised through their first set against A Sanders and S Collins but had to dig deep to cling on to the second set.

Chamberlain and Satchell then showed a similar amount of character to come through the first set against A Forbes and D Watson but it was no real surprise when they convincingly lost their final set of the evening, although this was by then a “dead” set.

Phil Crisp and Colin Walsh's set scores were a mirror image to those of Chamberlain and Satchell.

They started poorly with a first-set reverse against Forbes and Watson but then won their remaining three sets of the evening in good style.

Thetford's start to the season certainly bodes well for the rest of the summer.

Scores: C Chamberlain and D Satchell beat A Sanders and S Collins 6-2, 7-5 and halved with A Forbes and D Watson 7-5, 1-6. P Crisp and C Walsh halved with A Forbes and D Watson 2-6, 6-4 and beat A Sanders and S Collins 6-3, 6-4.
