Thetford AC competed in the 193-mile Round Norfolk Relay.
This continuous relay, run in 17 separate unequal multi-terrain stages, is the ultimate club challenge and certainly an unforgettable experience.
The race presents a tough, yet enjoyable challenge. Run over 24 hours, the event is much more than just a normal relay for it requires special preparation, planning and support.
Thetford AC is a club with the spirit of adventure and all athletes involved were certainly up for this unique challenge. The Thetford athletes gained a great deal of satisfaction and achievement after successfully completing their respective legs, which ranged in distance from just over five miles to just shy of 20 miles.
The course starts and finishes in King's Lynn.
Thetford AC athletes competing were: Neil Cross, Carl Higgins, Lucy Tyler, Tony Cantle, Dean Kirton, James McCarthy, Richard Dolman, Rhys Tyler, Corrina Smith, Cliff Lear, Tony Tyler, Audrey Norbury, Stephen Mallett, Louise Norris, Gillian Paremain, Rita Norry and Caroline Wakefield.
The Thetford athletes acquitted themselves very well and did themselves and the club very proud, particularly those on night duty.
Caroline Wakefield ran the final leg in a fantastic time, to bring the Thetford team home in 27-44:48, finishing 15th club and 40th overall.
A big thank you must go to all the support crew who helped the TAC team, and to team captain Rosemary Matlock.
