Race is a real blast

SENIOR members of Thetford Athletic Club travelled to Wisbech recently to compete in the Fenland 10 mile road race.

On a mild, sunny day the runners competed against a very strong fenland wind, which buffeted them around the flat course.

SENIOR members of Thetford Athletic Club travelled to Wisbech recently to compete in the Fenland 10 mile road race.

On a mild, sunny day the runners competed against a very strong fenland wind, which buffeted them around the flat course.

Despite this, several of them achieved new personal best times. First home for Thetford was Tony Tyler in a time of one hour 21 minutes, followed by Cliff Lear in 1-22.

First lady home for Thetford was Corrina Smith in 1-25 minutes, followed by Hayley Cocksedge in a new personal best time of 1-26. Next home was Rosemary Matlock, also in a new pb of 1-31 minutes, followed by Nicki Read in 1-33 minutes.

Gill Paremain followed closely in 1-34 minutes, and Sarah Andrews completed the Thetford line-up, finishing her first 10-mile race in a time of 1-57 minutes.
