Although last Wednesday's open 10-mile time trial promoted by Cycling Club Breckland was advertised for the 60 slowest riders, there were a number of really fast times recorded, including several personal bests.

Breckland's Bobby De'ath and Iain Dawson, riding tandem, started the evening well when they finished in a personal best time of 20 minutes 16 seconds, beating nearest rivals C Regan and G Painter (Chelmer CC) by one minute 16 seconds.

Breckland riders figured largely in the solo event with Phil Nudds notching up a personal best winning time of 21:26. He led the club to a team win with the help of father Chris Nudds' 22:28 and the personal best time of Laura Robinson, 24:22, for a total of 1-08:16.

Laura's time earned her fastest woman's award, beating opposition from J Anderson (VC Barrachi) 26:32, G Reynolds (Willesden CC) 25:19, and the youngest competitor club-mate 12-year-old Emily Davis who was another whose time, 31:53, was a personal best.

Also riding in Breckland colours were Rob Richardson 24:12, Nick Parravani 24:26, Tony Reynolds 25:26 and Bob Day 26:01 while second-claim pair Peter and Maggie Hamon recorded 27:45 and 28:27.

Ineligible for awards, Geoff Muller finished in 23:10.
