Norfolk's Olympic silver medallist Emma Pooley joined the large crowd of supporters for the 10-mile time trial organised by Cycling Club Breckland at Scoulton on Boxing Day.

Pictured above back at home in Norwich over Christmas, she helped cheer on the riders. It was more a fun event than a real speed test, and fastest man was Patrick Ellis (Fat Birds CC) with a time of 25 minutes 53 seconds, beating the nearest contender Geoff Frost (API), 27:45 by nearly two minutes.

Best of the Breckland entry was third-placed Myles Lubbock in 30:03 while Declan Davis celebrated his 11th birthday by stoking his grandfather, Don Saunders, on their tandem to finish in 30:11.

Other times were: Vince Gedge (Norwich ABC) 30:16; Geoff Muller (CCB) 30:25; Daryl Glover (NABC) 30:33; Nick Parravani (CCB) 30:48; Ken Price (CCB) 31:18; Rod Hobbs (CCB) 33:06 and evergreen Brian Foster (NABC) 35:36.

Margaret and Ted Doe, together with Peter and Kathy Tozer, turned out for the last time after organising and timing the CC Breckland series of club events during the season for many years to enjoy a well-earned rest in 2009.
