Town countered but Clacton had the ball in the net three times in the first 20 minutes each time being ruled out by the ref.

Town had a Holt effort saved and Senior had a run which was cleared but it was Clacton who took the lead on 36 minutes when Town gave away a free-kick on the edge of the box and Springett's shot went through the wall and past Wheeler.

Then just before half-time Clacton increased their lead when Lyness was fouled in the area and Springett scored from the spot.

Town went further behind within two minutes of the second half.

Town did apply some pressure and good work by Pask found Senior who crossed for Holt to score.

Town looked for a second and a good run by Mann saw a Smith effort wide of target, but Clacton then added a fourth to seal the points at 4-1. Wheeler made a fine save before Town were reduced to 10 men just before the end when Armes received a second yellow card from an official who seemed to find it easier to book than to have a word.
