The Thetford Super League darts teams had mixed fortunes in the first match of the season on Sunday, the men had a 4-3 victory but the ladies lost 1-3.

The Thetford Super League darts teams had mixed fortunes in the first match of the season on Sunday, the men had a 4-3 victory but the ladies lost 1-3.

The match was against Dereham at Thetford's home venue, The Great Eastern, Brandon.

The man of the match was this year's captain, Gary King. Gary won 3-0 with an average of 23.86 and one maximum 180.

The other winners were Phil Carter, Jason Mold and Craig Norton on his debut for Thetford.

There was a lady of the match award for Vinny Novell who averaged 15.96, beating a Norfolk County regular 3-2.

Vinny scored two 100s, a 140 and had a 91 checkout.

Will Stanmore played in the youth game and beat his opponent 2-0 with an average of 17.89.

Thetford Results - Men: Phil Carter 3-1, 21.70; Craig Norton 3-2, 23.09; Paul Goldsmith 1-3, 23.50; Terry Stanmore 1-3, 21.67; Jason Mold 3-1, 23.01; Gary King 3-0, 23.86; Mark Allen 0-3, 21.17.

Ladies: Vinny Novell 3-2, 15.96; Carina Allsop 0-3, 13.07; Nikky Herschell 0-3, 16.11; Rosemarie Morris 0-3, 11.90.

Youth: Will Stanmore 2-0, 17.89.
