Luke breaks more records

Seventeen Thetford Dolphins competed in the annual Iceni Open Meet hosted by the Dereham Otters.

The small squad came away with four firsts, seven seconds and six third-place trophies.

The small squad came away with four firsts, seven seconds and six third-place trophies.

Luke Walsh (15) swam superbly in the open age group, breaking two of the current age group club records.

First he broke the record for the 100m fly in the time of 1:05.34, finishing in third place and then went on to break the record for the 100m freestyle (58.04) when he came fifth.

Matthew Vertigans (13) swam brilliantly, winning three events - the 100m backstroke, 100m fly (personal best) and 100m freestyle.

He also finished in a great second place for the 200m individual medley and 100m breaststroke (pb). Luke Collins (10) also swam really well, winning the 50m freestyle and finishing third for the 50m fly.

Other top three achievers were: Stuart Root (9) who came second in three events, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke (pb) and 100m individual medley (pb); Ben Kleinau (14) who finished second in the 100m fly (PB) and third in the 100m breaststroke; Russell Hatton (12) who finished second in the 100m back; Taylor Dean (11) who finished third in the 50m fly; Connor Walsh (13) who finished third in the 100m fly; Hattie Clarke (14) who finished third in the 100m breaststroke (NT).

Other swimmers who also attended and achieved new personal best times were; Fiona Byford, 10, Elle Kleinau, 11, Victoria Root, 12, Ronni Dean, 13, Richard Hatton, 9, Rhys Vertigans, 10, Thomas Martin, 14, who achieved PBs in four events, Daniel Clucas, 15, and James Martin, 17.
