Plenty of effort, some fantastic passing and exceptional team spirit on both sides meant this hockey game between Thetford Ladies and Norwich City was a joy to watch.

The 2-0 win was a fine practice run for Thetford's campaign in a new league.

Thetford were keen and had enough of an edge to dominate in this friendly game, carrying the ball and pushing for goals.

Chris Church worked incredibly hard in midfield, with Tracey Newman and Sarah Nichols playing brilliantly on the right and Charlie Harwood and Karen Spiller making some key moves on the left.

Davina Rolph and Kathy Hammond were inspired in the attacking D, finding space and working hard to get the ball.

Dee Burris remained calm under pressure to block off City's spirited attacks.

Thetford had plenty of chances, but their first goal came right from the back, with a silky set of passing with Sophie Kelly taking a free pass to find Emma Nicholson, who sent the ball to Hammond to find Harwood, who popped the ball in the goal.

Church took the second goal in the second half, with the ball coming from the back again, allowing her to make a fine shot on goal.
