Using good passing and the whole of the pitch, Thetford made a great start. Davina Rolph pushed high to pressure the opposition's keeper, backed up by Charlie Harwood, Tracey Newman, Sarah Nichols and Karen Hodgkinson. Kathy Hammond looked hungry for goals. When working as a team, they made a real impact on Beccles' defence, but there were a few times where more thoughtful play from Thetford could have kept possession.

Breakaway runs from Beccles meant Sophie Kelly, Dee Burris and Rosemary Ladner had to work hard. Kelly kept excellent control of the ball, making some fantastic blocks and clearances. Thetford's first goal came when a free-hit from Kelly found Hodgkinson, who ran into the D and hammered home.

Thetford threatened to score many times in the first half, but couldn't finish. Harwood made some lightning-quick runs on goal, but was thwarted by the goalkeeper.

Hammond had battles at the goal-mouth, but also could not find the goal. Ladner made several key saves. It was a chance interception from a Beccles' free-hit that gained the home team its second goal, with a fine left pass to Newman, who netted.

A fantastic start to the campaign of Thetford Ladies II with a 3 0 victory over Herlings..

A strong start of excellent passing between the midfield and determined defending by Louisa Taylor meant that Thetford had numerous attempts on goal and Simone Bull scored just before half-time.

With tight marking from Sarah Nichol and Alena Sweigart, Herlings were unable to get through. With some good hits and long passes from Louise Harrison the midfield were able to carry the ball up.

Paula Scott had a terrific game working with Tracey Newman on the right.

An excellent run and shot from Tracey Newman made it 2-0 then Charlie Harwood, who had been driving forward throughout the game, was rewarded with a goal.
