Mundford’s Kieron Long rewrote the club’s record books as they secured an incredible win in their first away match of the season in Division Four of the Norfolk Alliance.

Long smashed a brilliant unbeaten 184 as Mundford chased down a daunting Rocklands total of 257-2 for the loss of only one wicket.

The visitors started the game with only 10 players and after losing the toss were put in the field.

Rocklands started strongly with Dan Littlehales scoring an unbeaten 117 with strong support from Simon Mann scoring 40 and Adrian Ward 39, giving them a more than adequate score off their allotted 45 overs.

Pick of the Mundford bowlers was Richard Copeland whose nine overs cost only 30 runs with the addition of a wicket.

With an early exit required, Long was pushed up the order to opener, partnering Marcus Perryman. Despite the rejigged batting order, Mundford soon started to chase down Rocklands’ total, with the pair putting on 105 for the first wicket, Perryman ably supporting the free-scoring Long.

Perryman’s departure for a respectable score of 22 signalled the appearance of experienced stroke player Robin Yates at the crease.

Ling continued his battering of the Rocklands’ attack, putting on a further unbeaten partnership of 153 with the new man.

Thanks to Long’s onslaught, Mundford made short work of Rocklands’ total with him hitting 14 sixes in his not out total of 184, the highest individual match score in Mundford history. Thanks largely to his effort the away team reached the required target with over 10 overs to spare.

There was another high scoring match in Division Two as Hethersett and Tas Valley hosted Saham Toney. Valley got up to 279-7, with opener Ian Bryce scoring 121, but again the side batting second came out on top as Nathan King made an unbeaten 145 in a five-wicket success.

There was a second tie of the Alliance season in Division Three - with neighbours Martham and Acle A sharing the spoils.

Martham did well to get up to 250-8 after Rob Porter (4-22) had helped reduce them to 96-7. The recovery was engineered by Alex Sayer (90 not out) and Simeon Randell (60). Acle started well before being pegged back and it finished all square with their last pair at the crease.
