With the new season in sight a strong field turned out for Cycling Club Breckland’s first 10 mile time trial of the year. Fifty-four riders battled to the turn against a strong headwind before the flying miles back to Hingham.
Gary Rushmore (King’s Lynn) won the event by 17 seconds in a time of 22.07. Daniel Bloy (also Lynn) was second followed by Mark Cook (Bedfordshire) and Mark Solley (Diss & D), joint third in 22.40. Hayley Simmonds (Cambridge Uni) was the fastest lady in 25.20.
Fastest CCB rider was Chris Nudds in 23.51, who also won the 60-69 year Vets category. Ever-improving junior Declan Davis finished only four seconds back in 23.55 for 13th place overall. Other CCB riders included Matt Carter (24.08), Bobby De’ath (24.32) and Mark Fairhead (24.49).
The CCB season begins on the April 4 with a five mile time trial at Scoulton. Visit the Cycling Club Breckland website for details.
