It has been a very busy and successful couple of weeks for a young martial artist from Thetford.

Seven-year-old Josie Wright competed in the Kuk Sool Won Scottish Championship held in Edinburgh the weekend before last, where she won two gold medals and a silver in the blue belt category.

The following weekend was the European Championships held in King's Lynn, and once again Josie came away with two golds and a bronze.

She is also currently the UK champion after winning two golds last December at the UK championships held in Birmingham.

Josie has been studying Kuk Sool Won for two years under the expert tuition of her instructor Master Darren Hart, who is a fifth degree black belt, at the RAF Lakenheath martial arts school.

Josie's accomplishments at King's Lynn contributed to her school winning the honour of Best School in Europe title for the second year running.

Josie's dad, Steve, said he is so proud of his little girl and her accomplishments. “When you realise there are 52 schools in the UK alone and the vast majority of the competitors are boys, and that Josie has won two years running it is absolutely fantastic,” he said.

“All the many hours of practice she devotes to Kuk Sool Won is definitely paying off and Josie is learning what she can achieve in life with hard work and dedication.”

Steve would also like to offer any local company the chance to have Josie and her success associated with their business by supporting her via sponsorship.

He said: “The better Josie is getting, the more it is costing in lesson fees, travelling, uniforms and tournament entry fees. The World Championships are fast approaching in October.

“They are to be held in Texas and Josie really would like to compete there at that level and see if she can add World Champion to her impressive list of accomplishments.”

Anyone interested in sponsoring Josie can contact Steve on 01842753192.
